1. Learn about the basics: Have a simple research and abundant information about wine can be found easily on books, courses, and the internet.

2. Know more winery/wine stories: it can strengthen your memory about the wine and increase your interest of it, thereby enhancing your motivation to learn more about wine.

3. Try more: try wines of difference prices, origins & wine types to increase your understanding of wines of various styles.

4. Start from the easy: learn about single varietals first, including their names & characteristics. For reds, you may start with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz; for whites, Riesling & sauvignon Blanc. As for regions, it is suggested to start from the New World to the Old World.

5. Ask more: communicate more with wine lovers to learn about knowledge & experience you can’t acquire from books, such as talk with wine store staff.

6. Drink more, save more: You may join wine-tasting events to try different wines at once with the explanations of experts, and the cost is not particularly high; trying wine-by-glass, without needing to buy a whole bottle of wine that you are interested in; chip in for wines with friends to lower the cost of each individual.

7. Relax: Chill down and don’t force yourselves to handle wines with theories, enjoy every wine moment!
